Storage Device

Hello friends welcome to our blog. Today we know about what is Storage Device, we are Read carefully this article and I hope after read this article you can easily understand Storage Device.

What Is Storage Device?

A storage device is an integral part of our computer system, without it our computer system is incomplete. We can save many types of data in our storage devices such as audio, video, text document, image, and more. The place where this data is saved is called a storage device.

Storage Device Explain with Examples.

A computer system requires memory to store and retrieve instruction data. Data is standing memory by a process called write and rewrite the memory by a process called read memory are need of stores location is in which data is a stand in is location is identified by an unit address insert devices are used by computer for storing data either temporary and permanent.

The memory unit stores all information in memory cells also called memory location and address can accommodate one or more bits.  The amount of information that can be hold memory is known as its capacity which is specified bytes.

They are variety of stores devices include in semiconductor memory primary memory RAM and ROM and magnetic memory secondary memory, floppy disk, CD ROM, Pen Drive etc.

There Are Two Types of Memory.

  • Primary Memory
  • Secondary Memory

Primary Memory

A memory that is directly associated with the CPU. Before being actually processing the data, the data is to be stored in some stores area. This stores area is known as primary stores. It is also referred to as internal storage or main memory.

There Are Two Types of Primary Memory.

  • Random Access Memory (RAM)
  • Read Only Memory (ROM)

Random Access Memory (RAM)

Random Access Memory (RAM) is identical to core memory in function read write memory data can be stored in Ram addressing one ram cell. The data and instruction head in via input device are stored in the RAM so it many called as user memory.
Random Access Memory (RAM) instructions are temporary in nature and are present only for the time that the program being used. Random Access Memory (RAM) is volatile memory.

Read Only Memory (ROM)

Read Only Memory (ROM) it is permanent memory stores as the name suggests that part of the memory which is only read by the computer. Read Only Memory (ROM) is non – volatile fix instruction on it that is instruction are related to the operating system of the computer this instruction are written by machine many features and these instruction cannot be updated by the user.

Secondary Memory

Secondary memory is known as permanent memory visa how the primary memory been with in the computer has Limited capacity its temporary in nature to overcome this limitation, it is necessary to writing the data program permanently, for the future use. Which could be used store capacity and present outside of the CPU, these are called as banking stores device or secondary memory or external storage device secondary memory stores capacity is huge permanent in nature instruction can be update any time.

There Are Many Types of Secondary Memory.

  •  Magnetic Tape
  •  Magnetic Disc
  •   Hard Disk
  •   Floppy Disk
  •  CD ROM
  • Pen Drive

Magnetic Tape

These are seen similar to audio cassettes tapes. It is made of plastic griffon coated one side with one iron oxide based magnetize materials. Data records in the form of tinny visible spot on the magnetized side as magnetic as magnetic tapes can be only are excesses serial.

The typical magnetic tapes would y2 in width and tapes run from 50 to 2400 feet long and have 7 to 9 running the tapes of the length of top width a range of 556 to 6250 characters inch.

Magnetic Disc

Magnetic disc resembles long playing records and can be except randomly fixed or more disk are amounted on a control hub to form a disk part which rotated spinning the disc at 50 and more revolution per second information can be records on both sides of the inner b at disk through a series of magnetic and nonmagnetic spots.  Why on the two outer disks recording is possible only one the inner surface.

There Are Two Types Of Magnetic Disks.
  • Hard Disk Drive
  • Floppy Disk Drive

Hard Disk Drive

Hard Disk Drive it is made of thin circuit aluminum disk coated on one or both of the surfaces with. A magnetized material this disk is mounted on spindle shaft the disk has to surface upper and lower. The upper surface of the topmost disk and the lower surface of the lower most disk are not magnetized where as both the surface of the other in between dicks are magnetized. Disk has read and write head with the help of read and write had information can be excesses and write on the surface of the disk.
The capacity of hard disc is available from 20 GB, 40 GB, 60 GB, and 80 GB, 500 GB.

Floppy Disk

The floppy disk is a kind of stores devices that used develop in the early in 1970 age of cheaper and faster stores device. It is a Small Random Access disk. The disk is made of flexible plastic coated with magnetic Oxide. The surface of the disk is made up of tracks. These tracks are in concentrate it circles on the surface of the disk. Data is stored in the form of magnetic spots on these tracks. Tracks are divided into sector.

CD ROM

CD-ROM extends from compact disc read only memory the data that is huge but really need to be changed Stood on this media.
Ex - dictionary encyclopedia medical reference laboratory music video distribute their products on CD ROM Because of high process or data density.

CD ROM can hold data density CD ROM up to 600 MB to 700 MB because of the CD high capacity infect the body can change the data many companies choose the CD ROM add the distribution media for their products. Another important application of CD ROM technology is CD interactive which stores digital audio full motion video and graphics animation text and data on CD ROM.

Pen drive

Pen drive is also known as flash drive and is also called USB pen drive. We often use pen drives. In this, we can save data from 8 GB to 32 GB such as - audio file, video file, image, text document and presentation. The pen drive is very light weight can be easily carried from one place to another and you can do it easily.
